A very special visitor at The Larick!Today we welcomed Daniel Hunt, who is on an incredible mission to raise awareness for mental health by walking around the entire coastline of the UK and its islands. Daniel is now on Day112 of his journey starting near Windsor Castle and has walked an amazing distance, meeting with people and sharing his message along the way. He arrived here at the Larick, and it was lovely to hear a little about his life and his journey, the people he has met and the reasons behind taking on such a huge challenge.Walking the coastline of the UK is no small undertaking - but using it to encourage conversation about mental health makes the journey even more meaningful.We're delighted to have been able to give Daniel a warm welcome and a place to rest his feet before he continues on his adventure. In addition, The Larick Centre, Community Larder was able to offer him a choice of staple foods to take on his journey. Good luck for the next leg, Daniel! That's a wrap for Dundee High School!Our last Duke of Edinburgh Award training session of the year for the High School has come and gone, and what a great bunch of young people we've had the pleasure of welcoming along!It's been brilliant seeing the groups getting out, learning new skills, building confidence and of course, putting those walking legs to good use!there's always plenty of chat, a few tired legs, lots of laughs and hopefully a few memories made along the way.A huge well done to everyone who has taken part this year - and good luck as you continue your DofE journey!We have one more group this year from another school before the season finishes and we hope to see even more groups coming through next year, ready for the next adventure and another step towards achieving their awards.Well done everyone, and see you next year!drive.google.com/file/d/1_OOQYAndxuuuVabwjcmfvIuosz7MVPO_/view ...

Just wanted to share this with you all. It's from the finder of The Ring.The story of The RingThis story starts early spring when an adventurous family from Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, conceived a plan to explore Scotland with its beautiful flora and fauna, its abundant captivating history, distinctive culture, and lavish gastronomy, across the prolific variety of landscapes for peace and tranquillity during their summer break. They devised their journey along Scotland’s rocky cliffs interspersed with sandy beaches along the coastline of the north east from the North Sea up to the Atlantic, in their search for puffins, dolphins, and seals, and return through Scotland’s rugged mountains at the heart of the highlands, to its omnifarious woodlands across the plain of the lowlands. Their journey began with a cruise ferry crossing from Amsterdam to New Castle to pick up their campervan from Great Scottish Campers in Dundee. The nature of their trip was not about the destination and more about the path itself. Led by adventure and chance their first stop landed them on the fabulous Larick Campsite led by Bob and Pauline in illustrious Tayport.The following morning, after a great night sleep on Larick Campsite without the continuous pounding of a cruise ferry’s marine diesel engine, the man of the family went out for his habitual morning cigarette. It was a beautiful morning with some patches of high clouds and spots of blue sky, the start of what became a lovely day. Larick Campsite was gradually waking up. People were walking their dogs and conveniently located on the coast, seagulls glided cheerfully through the light breeze. The man was enjoying his smoke while soaking up the soothing atmosphere of this beautiful setting. A light gust of wind and an opening cloud moved clear of the sun. Warming rays of light broke through and the man's sharp eye for detail spotted a shimmer in the gravel of the pitch. This sparkle was clearly not a stone and initially seemed to look like a brass broken off piece of a tent. He nudged it gently with his flip-flop and saw to his surprise that it was a ring someone must have lost here. Now having picked it up he felt this was not just some ring, it was heavy with a sightly pattern, carefully considered and purposefully selected or designed. When seeing the ring was engraved with initials, he immediately realized this was a wedding ring and like his own he understood the immeasurable emotional value it represents to whom lost it.Without hesitation, he dashed into the Larick Campsite office and found sheriff Bob enjoying his cup of coffee. Initially, Bob did not yet realize the implication when he got the ring handed over, however Pauline immediately remembered the newly wed couple and the lost ring. Minutes later, Pauline found the story on their Larick Campsite Facebook page and posted a message that the ring has been found looking to return to the righteous owner.In this day and age, many may have forgotten Scotland is riddled with legends, myths, and pagan traditions that have their origins in past sacred believes. That same morning, same hour, somewhere else in Scotland, the married couple were about with their campervan. Well-nigh forgotten and given up hope ever recovering the lost ring, on a hike they hammered a coin into a tree's trunk for hope to receive blessing and good fortune. Within an hour they were delighted when the wonderful news of the found ring has reached them.So, what do you think?
